Around 1840, Dr. Iosif Hanko studied and understood the therapeutic role of the salty baths and the possibilities of using Turda’s lakes for this purpose. Thus, he tried to make the rich, natural therapeutic resources of the area, available to the people. Sadly, only around 1930 the former Roman lake was dredged, the shores were consolidated and the hot bath establishment was modernized. Over 200 cabins were built on the western shore of the lake, the surface between its sides being set up as a beach.
